Artistic Bio
Equipped with a wide range and a warm, extremely versatile voice, Viviana was both the contralto and lead soprano of the BLUE DOLLS, a vocal trio with which she received a nomination for BEST JAZZ SINGER at the 2008 Italian Jazz Awards, and with whom she was a guest on various RAI, MEDIASET, and LA 7 broadcasts.
She recorded with the Blue Dolls the soundtrack for the RAI 1 drama "Le ragazze dello Swing," also starring as lead singer Nuccia Natali, directed by Maurizio Zaccaro. She also collaborated as an actress on the RAI 1 drama "Violetta" with actress Vittoria Puccini.
In 2008, her first CD with the Blue Dolls, also titled "Blue Dolls," was released in Italy and Switzerland. Her second album with the vocal trio "Mille lire al mese," was released in 2011.
Alongside the great actor Rutger Hauer, she served as presenter at the 2008, 2009, and 2010 editions of "I've Seen Films," an international short film festival.
As a solo singer, she has recorded an album of nine original songs, titled "IL RICORDO DI TE," a pop album with orchestral accompaniment, written and composed by Domenico Centorrino.
From this album, the single "Ti canterò una canzone" was released, which was played on various national radio stations.
She performs live as the lead singer of the Viviana Dragani Quintet with the project “MOONDANCE." With this group, Viviana made her solo debut at the BLUE NOTE in Milan.
She is also the singer of the sextet concert/recital, "ALMATANGO," dedicated to Argentine Tango (tango canción) and Carlos Gardel.
She collaborated with the Klezmer group GOLDENE PAVE from 2013 to 2015.
With the Blue Dolls, she performed at major theaters, including the Carignano and Piccolo Regio in Turin, the Teatro dell'Unione in Viterbo, the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona (Switzerland), the National Theater in Podgorica (Montenegro), the Academy of Arts Theater in Tirana (Albania), and the Teatro Vittoria in Ortona, as part of the "Women in Jazz" festival, featuring figures such as Dee Dee Bridgewater.
She performed with the Blue Dolls at the Palazzo Ducale in Modena, opening for Lucio Dalla's concert, at the Teatro Verdi in Florence, opening for Renzo Arbore's concert, at the Sheraton Hotel in Ankara (Turkey) on an evening featuring Amii Stewart, and at major international jazz clubs and festivals: the BLUE NOTE in Milan, the INOUI in Luxembourg, the Festival dello Spasimo in Palermo (Brass Group), the RAVELLO Festival, and the MONTREUX Jazz Festival.
She also boasts a series of television appearances with the aforementioned vocal trio: several times as a guest of Piero Chiambretti on "Markette" on La7, as well as a guest of Maurizio Costanzo on "Stella" (Sky Vivo) and the "Maurizio Costanzo Show" on Canale 5. In 2008, she participated in "SANREMO Off" and was broadcast live on RAI 2 from the Ariston VIP catwalk. She also appears on the RAI 3 programs "Cominciamo bene prima" with Pino Strabioli and "Cominciamo bene estate” with Michele Mirabella.
As a soloist, she has collaborated with artists such as Fabrizio Voghera, Mattia Inverni, Sergio Moses and Gnu Quartet.
In 2017, she relocated to the Boston area in the USA, where she founded Itali-Echo, a radio show and podcast for which she serves as a producer. She collaborates as a performer with Soprano Olga Lisovska and Tenor Giovanni Formisano.
In 2023, she released her latest solo album, Liriche Oniriche, with a stellar trio. It features original jazz pieces composed by Maurizio La Ferla, based on lyrics by Orazio Caruso. The ensemble features bassist Alberto Fidone, Amii Stewart's longtime drummer Peppe Tringali on drums, and Maurizio La Ferla on piano.
Viviana is an established voice-over talent. She has provided voice for commercials aired on Canale 5 and La 7 with brands such as Scotch-Brite and Sensodyne.
